His course leads him for the first time to New York, for some weeks in 1986, but, not speaking English enough, he tries in vain to take down a model's job and a work permit. Paolo doesn't confess that he's been defeated and he leaves then for Toronto, Canada, where he succeeds this time to get a contract of employment as a model while beginning again exercising casual jobs and boxing to earn his living. It is, on a ring during a boxing match there, that he is spotted by Bruce Weber, the photographer for Calvin Klein who was there to introduce his first film at the Festival of Toronto. Paolo begins making many voyages in and out between Toronto and New York, and Weber offers him fast the Obsession campaign: his model's career is thrown, his job and his talent makes the rest. In 1988, he becomes established in New York, which he leaves in 1989 to come to live and to work in Paris...

Paolo loans his picture to Calvin Klein, Chanel, YSL, Lanvin, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Giorgio Armani. He coasts along models, poses with the prettiest girls, but he doesn't forget his first objective. The modeling remains for him a simple means. His cachets allows him to pay courses in Actor' s Studio which one of the schools is then installed in the Marais, in Paris. He follows the education of the professors from New York, he still always works his English so as to forget to learn French until he realizes that he understands the language and that with a small effort, he could speak it also (this can serve, to read comic books). In 1992, while his model's career is a full success, he takes the risk of throwing himself once again into adventure for a new life, with his new weapons.

Youth

Third of a family of five boys, Paolo dreams first to become a truck driver, as his father was at that time (he skips school merrily to accompany him on his trips across France and all over Europe and he draws a true passion for the trucks which enlivens him even today), then he discovers Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke (Luke the cold hand, film made in 1967, to see absolutely, and not only for the mythical scene of the eggs!!!) and he tells himself that it is that that he wants to do. But his two elder brothers are into boxing (they became champions in Italy) and it is very natural that Paolo follows their traces.

In fact, he doesn't content himself to follow, he lines victories up: 17 by K0 and 20 in points against just 3 null and 2 defeats on a total of 42 matches! He wins for the first time the amateur championship of Italy at 14 years old and is part of the national team during almost four years in the course of which he wins the title three times. But contrary to his brothers, he doesn't feel he's made for this. The ring, for him, is first of all a stage and a way to occur before an audience...

Paolo leaves the family home at 14 with the intention of discovering the world, and he launches himself into the adventure of the theatre while exercising a multitude of casual jobs. With confidence and encouragement of his family, he discovers life and its price.

Actor on television

He leaves Paris for New York with for objective, the theatre. He begins running after auditions. The soap As the World Turns recruits and Paolo gets his first role. For the first time he earns his living as an actor. He plays in ATWT during the day and he runs ato play at the theatre in the evening. His main roles in Who' s Life is it Anyway? (that he stages himself) and Equus gives him the acclamation of critics, but he also played in The Golden Boy, True West, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Sharing, Hello Out There and The Courtesan and the Eunuch.

On the set of ATWT Paolo learns a lot, he gives a lot also. But after three years, he is thirsty for something else and he turns over a new leaf to go and get installed himself in Hollywood.

He makes appearances in series such as The Nanny (a Nanny from Hell), Nash Bridges, Babylon 5, Perversions of Science, Secret Service Guy or That' s Life.

He turns in many TV films as well in Europe as in the United States. Some were already broadcasted in France, as Le Courrier du Tsar where he represents Michel Strogoff and Sex and Mrs X (Art to entice) where he gives the cue to Jaqueline Bisset and Linda Hamilton. Others remain to discover, notably Caraibi, Ultimo or Kinderraub in Rio.

Actor at the cinema

But Paolo can also find his way at the cinema. In 1996, he appears in Everyone Says I Love You from Woody Allen. In 1997, he interprets Johnny Stompanato in a film of countless rewards, L.A. Confidential, from Curtis Hanson. In 1998, he gets a role in Still Breathing, an independent film. In 1999, he shoots in Italy the film Tea with Mussolini, conducted by Franco Zeffirelli. In 2001, he plays the title role in the film Married / Unmarried from Noli, who still keeps people waiting at the cinema. The film, which promises to be a shocker, is engaged in several festivals. In the spring of 2002 he plays with Jet Li in Cradle 2 the Grave. During the summer, he plays a communist in an Italian featured film turned in Rome and Sabaudia, La Signora, and the list isn't yet over... He is the executive producer of Dark Days, a documentary from Mark Singer on the homeless of New York which et got three prizes for, of that that of the best documentary, in the Film festival of Sundance in 2000...

I rkceon you are quite dead on with that.
